We started out by taking Quindy to see Santa. She informed us she was not going to be shy. She was going to tell him she wanted 2 princess kitchens and 5 wands. I thought "Gee I am raising a greedy little girl" But we got there and she forgot that she wasn't going to be shy, so Ben went with her when she got over it a little bit, but then was so nervous she forgot what she wanted and just asked for a Christmas tree and candy cane. Santa said Ho Ho Ho and it reminded me a bit of a Christmas story.
Then we went up to the mountains to cut down a tree. The kids and I followed Ben up the mountain, where he was looking for the perfect tree. We caught up to him, I looked at three trees and said perfect. Quindy cut it down, we got back to the truck and the tree wasn't nearly as full as when I picked it out. Ben must have knocked a bunch of branches off on the way down. And heading back down, we saw a herd of deer.
We started decorating the tree and it had a bit hard time holding up the lights. so we put on a ribbon and called it good. Charlie Brown has nothing on us.

Deja Vu
Brian came to visit during Thanksgiving and we went to the Teton Flood Museum. It was just like my first, second, third and fourth grade field trips. Although they had painted the walls so you couldn't see the water mark on the walls, although they had put up a plaque to mark it. It just wasn't quite the same effect though.

He Crawls!!
Slade is crawling, all over the place, Quindy tries to move toys away from him, but he just keeps coming. It is pretty funny. Now when he wants to be picked up, he just comes over and rubs his head against my ankles, the little kitty. He is also starting to pull himself up on things to stand, tries to crawl on things and has taken a few steps around the furniture. I keep telling him to stop it and just be a baby, but he doesn't listen to me. He gets that from his dad. I have a video of him crawling, but am having trouble uploading it, or just single pcitures, so here is another slide show of Slade doing things not particularly mentioned in this post
Halloween
WE celebrated Halloween with out little fairy/angel (depending on whether she would wear the halo) and our pumpkin/devil (depending on what party we were at) by going trunk or treating at church on the 30th and to Boo at the Zoo on the 31st. It was lots of fun. Quindy enjoyed every minute of it and Slade tolerated it pretty well (He is teething and tends to be a bit cranky) We got lots of candy and Ben abd I ate most of to help save Quindy's teeth, but we didn't need to worry, because it seems that she was most excited about a toothbrush a dentist's office passed out. Whose kid is she?
Potty trained
Quindy is potty trained!! She actually did it before her birthday, but in case no one noticed, I am a little slow at posting stuff. We had tried stickers, candy, a gown, snow cones, Arizona, taking toys away and giving them back, anything I could think of. THen one day, my mom bought her a pop and said, "you have to use the potty in order to drink pop" She has used it ever since. So thanks grandma, I don't think we could have done it without you.
QUINDY's BIRTHDAY
Quindy turned 3 on Oct. 31st. We celebrated the only way we know how, with a Dora cake, (she had one last year) Whenever I would ask her what she wanted for her birthday, she would tell me a cake, specifically a Dora cake. So she got exactly what she wanted. Hurray for mom and dad. Ben is the cake decorator in our house and he did an excellent job. She had a great time, got lots of dress-up, a guitar and a radio. Thanks to everyone who made it such a special day for her.

Ben & the antelope
Ben drew on an antelope hunt this year. He and his dad went wherever the hunt was and got his biggest antelope to date, 15". I was excited he got it the first day, Quindy was just excited that he shot it and has asked several times if we are going to hang it on the wall. The answer is yes and I can hardly wait.
Slade
Slade is happy most of the time and just so stinkin' fun. He is pretty mobile and never stays where I leave him. When I ask him where he is going, he just laughs. He also likes to smile and flirt with the ladies on the back row of relief society. I think we are going to have our hands full with him.
Quindy &
Quindy is learning to pedal her bike, is helping with Slade (she changed his diaper the other day when I was folding laundry) and looking forward to her birthday. When I ask her what she wants, all she wants is a cake, a do-do-Dora cake. When I ask her why did something (like pull all the wipes out of the box, she tells me because she did it. Guess that makes sense.
Cousin's Camp
We celebrated Slade's 6 month birthday by taking him on his first camping trip. It was a lot of fun getting together with Ben's cousins. The kids had a great time playing together. The temperature was not very cold and the rain stopped just in time to get up in the morning and didn't start again until we were leaving.
Twin Falls Temple
Quindy's favorite song to sing is I Love to See the Temple, so Grandma Karen decided she needed to go to the Twin Falls Open House. It was very beautiful and she was mostly reverant. When we walked into the room with the room with the mural of the area, including the deer and antelope, Quindy yelled "We gotta shoot it!!" was quite animated and needed to get her gun. I was glad I had Slade and could just pretend I didn't know her or her grandma.

ATOMIC DAYS!!!
I highly recommend Atomic Days in Arco to everyone. The parade starts with an airplane flying over main street and dropping ping pong balls and everyone runs out to get as many as possible because the sheriff's office will give you 50 cents for each ball you bring in (sorry, no pictures, Ben was in charge again) quindy got $2 (thanks Shannon) And then the parade starts, and they throw lots of candy, I mean lots. We had a great time there. Thanks Matt and Steph for inviting us. And if anyone is going through Arco when they are having this parade, I recommend you stop and watch, plus it the parade route is State Hwy 20, so you can't get through until the parade ends.
I caught a fish!!!
We have taken up fishing as a family, and so I bought my first fishing license. And I actually caught a fish!!! I cast it, caught it, set it and reeled it in, all by myself. I did let Ben take it off the hook for me and rebait it because he really likes doing that. I was so excited.
Meanwhile, while I was working so hard to get a fish, Quindy is there with her Dora fishing pole and she says, "I caught one" and we said reel it in, so she does, and what do you know, she really had a fish!! She did that twice. She is just a natural. We forgot to take a picture though. Next time.
Slade
Slade is just getting so big!! I can't believe he just had his 4 month birthday. I still think he should just be a newborn and it amazes me all the things he is learning to do.
Menan Parade
It just wouldn't be the 4th of July without the Menan Parade. It was a bit disapointing since they didn't pass out chocolate milk, but we still had a good time. Ben was in charge of taking pictures, which is why we don't have a picture of the horse drawn hearse, or of the cowboy dancing with his lasso (this really was impressive because he jumped in and out of his lasso the entire parade route in long pants and shirt and didn't even seem winded) I took over the pictures towards the end, which is why we got the tractor.
GOLD FEVER
We went to Crouch for a family reunion the end of June. We saw lots of Ben's cousins and had a really good time. Along the way, we stopped at the ghost town of Custer City. Ben took Quindy into the gift shop to buy some candy and while waiting to check out, the ranger girl took so long chatting with the men in front of them, that Ben just had to buy a gold pan, at least that is what he told me. I'm sure it was really hard on him, since on the way up he mentioned that he thought it would be fun for the family to start gold panning as a way to pay for family vacations. We'll see what great trips we get to take :)

I took a girls trip to Park City last week, and left Quindy home with Ben. She has been talking about fishing all winter, so he decided it would be a good activity for them to enjoy and invited her cousin Reed to come along. He worked really hard to get me a good picture of them by the fish, because every time the fish would flop, the kids would run. I think the kids had a good time, but I think it is also the last time Ben will go fishing when the kids out number him.

Well, come to find out the reason I am slow at updating this, is me, not lack of computer or anything else. It is just me. So here is what is becoming my monthly update. We blessed Slade on one of the few nice days we have had. We have been visiting parks and petting zoos and just enjoying every day of sunshine that has come our way, because they have been few and far between. Quindy still likes Slade and he is still a good baby, so we are still just happily pluggin along.
